What To Expect In A Reiki First Degree Course?

Courses (also known as classes, workshops, or seminars) are often relaxed and informal. They are sometimes held on weekends or successive evenings throughout the week to accommodate a more significant number of participants.

What To Expect In A Reiki First Degree Course?

Until the mid-1990s, the First Degree was generally taught in the West in four sessions—over two or four days or four evenings—mainly when taught by Reiki Alliance members. This provided a minimum of 12 hours of instruction and included four different attunements, which allowed the Reiki energy to increase gradually over the course of four sessions and a complete explanation of the Usui Reiki Healing System, as Mrs. Takata taught it.

This included the story of how Dr. Usui developed Reiki, as well as comprehensive training in the hand positions on the head and body for treating yourself and others, as well as advice on how to utilize Reiki in the event of injuries or accidents, as well as with animals and plants. Time would be allotted for performing treatments on oneself and with other students, as well as for asking questions and sharing experiences, but because it was taught orally, no notes or handouts were distributed to students.

Although some Masters continue to teach Reiki in this manner, the majority now offer class notes or even a comprehensive guidebook that includes more current information regarding Dr. Usui and his discovery of Reiki.

This is an example of how a traditional Reiki First Degree course is typically organized in the Western world. It contains the introduction session that many Masters offer to learn more for anyone interested in Reiki. While there may be slight differences, the following is quite typical:

Reiki class

Friday

An evening introduction to Reiki often begins with discussing the origins of the practice and its various applications. For a few minutes, each attendee will have the opportunity to get Reiki, and there will be time for questions and answers.

Saturday

Introductory sessions are common on the first day of a course to help students get to know each other. In the second half of the day, you'll learn more about Reiki's history, how it works, and how it can be employed. The first of four attunements is offered to students in the morning and the second in the afternoon, usually near the end of the morning. A short meditation often precedes attunements. The value of self-treatment with Reiki is also explored, demonstrated, and practiced after reviewing the Reiki Principles. When there is enough time, pupils can begin practicing Reiki on each other.

Sunday

The third attunement is provided early in the morning, and the fourth is offered immediately afternoon on the second day. (At least four hours is recommended between attunements.) Students are given a demonstration and explanation of the hand positions needed to do a full Reiki treatment and then practice in pairs. A discussion of creative uses of Reiki, such as coping with emergencies and treating animals and plants, as well as a question-and-answer session and distribution of Reiki First Degree certificates, follows.

The "extras" that some Reiki courses contain, such as learning about energy, auras, and chakras, additional hand positions for treating specific conditions, or relaxing techniques combining Reiki with meditation and visualization, can be extremely valuable to students. The use of crystals and color healing, for example, can be a little perplexing because they don't necessarily relate to Reiki.

There is also a difference in class size. Some Reiki Masters prefer to teach small groups of between four and six persons, while others prefer to teach larger groups of up to 12 or 14. Some classes contain between 20 and 30 pupils, while others have as many as 80. One-on-one or two-student classes are preferred by some Masters. It's up to you to decide which option is best for you, as each has pros and cons.

Some students may be apprehensive about making an "error" in a one-on-one class because there is no one else to practice on but the Reiki Master, which can be stressful for those who are afraid of making a mistake. Even though you have each other to practice on, being in a pair produces similar outcomes. However, if you are going to work together so closely, it is critical that you enjoy each other.

To practice on multiple people rather than just one, small or medium-sized groups allow you to meet others who share your interests, create new friendships, and perhaps practice Reiki together in the future. It's also possible that someone else will ask the questions you were afraid to ask yourself! However, huge groups of thirty or more people allow you to be more anonymous if that's something that appeals to your preference for privacy.

Chanting And Toning With Karuna Reiki

The Karuna Reiki experience taught me that toning or chanting during a Karuna Reiki session causes profound shifts in the healing energy's vibrational frequency. The Mahayana Buddhist tradition of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvhara, who creates the Sound that Illuminates the World, validates this notion.

Guided Meditation To Help Heal The Shadow Self Can Change Your Life

The shadow self refers to the aspects of ourselves that have been repressed into the unconscious — the aspects of ourselves that we are insecure about, ashamed of, or frustrated with. The shadow self-concept is based on the idea that we metaphorically bury those aspects of our personalities that we fear will not be accepted, accepted, or loved by others; thus, we keep them in the shadows.

Integrative And Functional Medicine —Personalized Care For The 21st Century

The goal of integrative and functional medicine is to get to the root cause of health problems and treat the whole person with a combination of approaches—optimizing health for those who have it and restoring health for those who have lost it. Integrative medicine and functional medicine are often used interchangeably, but the terms are actually referring to two different approaches to patient care.
