The second degree of Reiki gives you a more remarkable ability to perform Reiki treatments, yet your first degree of Reiki talents aren't rendered obsolete by the second degree. All the hand positions stay the same, but there is an additional hand position for a specific "mental and emotional" treatment. Numerous other hand positions are proposed later.

Preparation
Like Reiki 1, it is usually best not to give full treatments to others until the 21-day clearing process is complete. Then, before beginning therapy, prepare yourself and the environment, and put your client at ease. In addition to removing and cleaning the room and any equipment, you must also self-cleanse and protect yourself and explain what they can expect to your client.
You can also use the Power Symbol to purify the space and the therapeutic couch. Intentionally create a huge Power Symbol, facing the corner, chanting its sacred mantra three times while drawing an arc with your hand from the corner into the middle of the room. After completing all four corners, move to the room's center and draw a Power Symbol above you and another on the floor, each time repeating its sacred phrase three times.
Prepare the treatment couch with clean pillows and blankets. Intentionally purify the couch (or other suitable location), cushions, and blanket by drawing a Power Symbol over them and softly repeating their sacred mantra three times.
Then, before treating your client, remember to fill your aura with Reiki, intending that the outside border forms a protective barrier, and the Reiki within it protects you from any negativity and damage. Then you can scan your client's aura.
Sensing And Scanning The Aura
Besides opening the chakras, your Second Degree attunement promotes insight and awareness to subtle energies. By scanning and mending the aura, you can boost the client's ability to receive Reiki during conventional treatment. This is called Byosen in Japanese. But this skill can be learned easily.
Spend a few minutes silently tuning into Reiki, and then rub your hands together for 10–15 seconds to sensitize them to energy. Adding a Power Symbol to each hand and a Harmony Symbol in front of your Third Eye chakra is optional.
Then, with your left (or non-dominant) hand between 15-30 cm (6-12 in) above the body, start at the head and slowly move your hand down the body, keeping your hand at the same distance.
Taking a deep breath and closing your eyes can help you become more aware of the sensations in your palm. Because this varies so much from person to person, it may take a lot of experience before you can recognize what feelings indicate a healthy energy field. When you become used to it, you'll find that you intuitively "know" what each of these sensations signify. You may experience an overall warmth or tingling sensation in your body, and you may also feel what feels like a chilly breeze on your hand, which can indicate the position of a chakra.
There are several ways to tell if you've found an area in need of Reiki, but the most common is that you'll feel something like coolness, heat, tingling, pressure, little "stickiness," pulsations, or a tugging sensation on your hand.
It's possible that your hand will simply lead you to the distortion, and you'll be able to tell where it is even before you get there. The ability to "see" or sense the energy field and even the interior of the client's body may also develop, allowing you to identify places that need specific care. This is akin to X-ray vision. Initially, these feelings and impressions may not seem to be real, and you may even assume you're hallucinating. However, rely on your own judgment. You'll get better at scanning the aura and spotting imbalances as you practice.
Move your hand up and down in that location to identify the height where you feel the most distortion before moving on to a new area to scan. Channel Reiki into the aura with palms facing down so that it can cure both the aura and those parts of the physical body that are linked to it. Scan and heal your entire energy field as previously by moving your hand down the body, stopping at each location where you discover a problem area, and repeating this process as many times as necessary until you feel the flow of Reiki diminishing.
A client's distortion and any personal issues it may be linked to may come to light while you operate inside their energy field. When working with a patient, you may also learn more about their past and what they may do to help them heal. If you're not used to getting intuitive information, you may be alarmed by this development. However, it is a fantastic indicator that you are progressing in your spiritual development and growth through Reiki.
Let the client know only if you are guided to do so, and then only with utmost sensitivity, lovingkindness and without judgment. Always remember that you are not a medical doctor, so you are not allowed to make any medical diagnoses while you are working with a client.
