The Oxford English Dictionary defines healing as "restoring one's health; repairing oneself through natural processes, such as scar formation; curing." But the word itself means "to make whole." To be whole, a person's life must be healed. Reiki can cleanse a person's energy field. It improves health and well-being by healing, harmonizing, and balancing everyone. Here I'd like to introduce the concept of "healing" in its broadest sense, which encompasses both traditional and metaphysical approaches to healing as well as the idea that illness is a body's message.
Our bodies have an incredible array of healing processes that allow them to restore and maintain themselves. Our bodies constantly lose and replace cells through wear and tear and cell division. It was previously believed that adults couldn't repair or replace specific organs like the brain or nervous system. Yet, a new study shows that these cells can regenerate under certain conditions.
Each year, 98 percent of the cells in the body are replaced, effectively giving you a new body on your birthday. Your bone cells regenerate your skeleton in about three months, though the calcium in the bone takes about a year; your liver progressively replaces itself every six weeks; your skin regenerates monthly, and your stomach lining regenerates every four days.
Without this constant replication and repair, we would all die from our first childhood cut! Factors like diet, hydration, fatigue, stress, age, and general health can impact your body's natural healing ability. For example, poor nutrition slows healing and increases infection risk, further delaying recovery, and psychological stress has a similar effect.
As you can see from the preceding information, healing is not something that occurs "out there," something that someone else "does" to you. There is only one "healer" for your body, and that is you. Because your body is equipped to heal itself, all anyone else can do — whether that person is a nurse, a doctor, a complementary therapist, or a Reiki "healer" — is to jump-start that natural process in some way, whether conventional or alternative.
Naturally, your body deals with numerous potential hazards daily. When your body is invaded by a virus, such as the common cold, your immune system is activated, and all those rather unpleasant symptoms, such as a fever and a runny nose, are the result of your body fighting the infection, not the virus itself. Indeed, taking medication to bring your temperature down when you have a simple cold may undo much of your body's good work, as the increase in temperature kills off the virus.
Therefore, if your body is so adept at self-healing, how come there are times when it is not entirely healthy? Why are people still afflicted with chronic or incurable diseases? This is because healing—and health—are holistic, not merely physical endeavors.
For instance, your body produces precancerous (altered) cells daily, but your immune system almost always detects and destroys them. However, if your immune system is not functioning normally, not all of them will be destroyed.
There are several possible explanations for that your body may be already struggling to fight off another major infection, or your immune system may have been seriously compromised by a stressful event such as a close bereavement (or even a happy but stressful event such as a wedding), or your body may lack the nutritional balance necessary to function at peak strength. Any of these factors and numerous others may contribute to the growth of cancerous cells in an otherwise healthy body.
Even if this occurs, if the immune system can quickly revert to normal functioning, it will typically attack and destroy any early cancerous growth, leaving you in the dark. Naturally, if cancer develops, various conventional medical interventions such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy may benefit. However, you are likely to have heard of individuals who developed mature cancerous growths but were able to mobilize their bodies to destroy cancer, sometimes with astonishing speed and without medical intervention.
These individuals always maintain a positive attitude and an overwhelming desire to "get better," as well as the support of others who can assist them in releasing emotional blockages and gaining insight into the causes of their illness. Additionally, they typically have a variety of techniques, such as Reiki or spiritual healing, or other complementary therapies, to assist them in activating their healing ability, as the causes of any serious illness are almost always complex and multileveled.
Chanting And Toning With Karuna Reiki
The Karuna Reiki experience taught me that toning or chanting during a Karuna Reiki session causes profound shifts in the healing energy's vibrational frequency. The Mahayana Buddhist tradition of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvhara, who creates the Sound that Illuminates the World, validates this notion.
The Ethics Of Distant Reiki Healing
The Second Degree procedures teach you how to transmit powerful healing to anybody, anywhere, at any time, including the past and future. Using the Distant (Connection) Symbol helps you to construct a bridge between you and the person (or animal) you wish to heal.
Guided Meditation To Help Heal The Shadow Self Can Change Your Life
The shadow self refers to the aspects of ourselves that have been repressed into the unconscious — the aspects of ourselves that we are insecure about, ashamed of, or frustrated with. The shadow self-concept is based on the idea that we metaphorically bury those aspects of our personalities that we fear will not be accepted, accepted, or loved by others; thus, we keep them in the shadows.
How To Build A Successful Reiki Practice - FAQs
After you've mastered the techniques necessary to perform Reiki on others in-person and remotely, it is entirely up to you to decide whether Reiki is something you wish to pursue as a more formal public practice.
Integrative And Functional Medicine —Personalized Care For The 21st Century
The goal of integrative and functional medicine is to get to the root cause of health problems and treat the whole person with a combination of approaches—optimizing health for those who have it and restoring health for those who have lost it. Integrative medicine and functional medicine are often used interchangeably, but the terms are actually referring to two different approaches to patient care.
The Karuna Reiki Attunements
A common belief is that compassionate action is captured in this non-traditional form of Reiki. When used in conjunction with Usui Reiki, it has a powerful effect on its own, but even more so.
Karuna Master Symbols and Their Uses
Other healing systems incorporate the Karuna Reiki Master symbols. For instance, The International Center for Reiki Training incorporates the Usui Dai Ko Myo, Tibetan Dai Ko Mio, and Tibetan Fire Serpent into our Usui/Tibetan Reiki Master Training.
Kuan Yin - The Goddess Of Mercy
Kuan Yin is an example of an enlightened being. Bodhisattva, or enlightened being, guards the earth. The Chinese deity Kuan Yin is revered as a symbol of compassion and love.
Possible Side Effects Of A Karuna Reiki Attunement
Becoming a Reiki practitioner with the ability to heal oneself and others is a beautiful path that allows you to make a difference in the world. While it is exciting to receive an attunement in order to increase your frequency and connection to the universal life force energy, these attunements come at a cost.
The Traditional Karuna Reiki Attunements
Karuna is typically only taught to Usui Reiki Master practitioners. There are four levels of Karuna instruction. There are four levels of mastery in this system: two for practitioners and two for masters.
Original Karuna Attunements - The Sai Baba Reiki Attunements
For those wishing to view the original Sai Baba attunement process in order to compare it to later attunements, these are included for informational purposes only. You will notice a resemblance between these and the attunements developed later.
