The practitioner performs the first five reiki hand positions for the treatment of others standing or seated behind the client's head.
Gently position both hands beneath the head, palms upward (it may be easier to do this one hand at a time, but be careful not to pull their hair), with your tiny fingers touching and your fingertips roughly level with the base of the skull. Maintain this position for 3 to 5 minutes, then softly and gradually remove both hands simultaneously, allowing the client's head to rest back on the cushion. Reposition your hands in position 2.
Place one slightly cupped palm over each eye, with the heel of each hand gently resting on the brow but keeping the fingertips at least 5 cm (2 in) away from the face. After 3 to 5 minutes, gradually move the hands to position 3.
Place one slightly cupped hand over each ear, with the heel of each hand resting gently against the side of the head so that the fingertips are roughly level with each earlobe. Again, make sure the fingertips don’t touch the face—leave them at least 5 cm (2 in) away. After 3 to 5 minutes, move the hands one at a time to position 4.
One hand on each side of the neck, palms facing forward, and tiny fingers softly resting on top of the client's shoulders. Your fingers should avoid making contact with the person's neck since this might cause them to feel highly confined and even unsafe. Allow at least 10 cm (4 in) of space between your hands and the client's neck. Maintain this position for 3–5 minutes, then gradually move the hands to position 5.
At the top of your chest, position your hands in a V formation. Each hand's heel can rest softly on the individual's collarbone, and the hand can be held flat on the chest this time, with fingertips pointing diagonally toward the middle of the chest breastbone. If you're treating a female, keep in mind that it's neither appropriate nor necessary to place your hands directly on the breasts. Therefore, if you have long hands or the woman has exceptionally high breasts, you may need to move your hands back slightly. Maintain this position for 3 to 5 minutes, then gently withdraw your hands and walk around to the client's side.
Place one hand in front of the other flat on the body (gently, but without exerting pressure on the client), fingertips pointing away from you, on the solar plexus (between the breasts and waist), so that one hand is on the left and the other on the right. Maintain this position for 3–5 minutes (it is acceptable to rotate your hands regularly, shifting them to various sides to avoid becoming too weary), then slowly transfer them to position 7.
Place one hand in front of the other flat on the body gently, but without exerting pressure on the client, fingertips pointing away from you, at the waist, so that one hand is on the left and the other on the right. Maintain this position for 3–5 minutes (it is acceptable to rotate your hands regularly, swapping them to various sides to avoid becoming too weary), then slowly transfer them to position 8.
Male and female hand positions differ slightly to demonstrate sensitivity toward the genitals. Hold your hands in a V form, with the point of the V pointing toward the pubic bone for female customers. This is most easily accomplished in the manner depicted in the figure. For instance, if the client's head is to your right, your right hand's heel should be level with her left hip bone, and the fingertips should point diagonally toward the pubic bone. Your left hand's fingertips are angled diagonally toward and level with her right hip. (Any other hand arrangement is typically more painful to hold and more invasive to the client.) Maintain this stance for 3–5 minutes, then remove your hands.
As illustrated, to demonstrate sensitivity and avoid contact with the male genitalia, one hand is typically placed on each hip bone. Again, having one hand with the fingertips pointing to the right and one hand pointing to the left is more comfortable. Maintain this stance for 3–5 minutes, and then remove your hands. You may now begin treating the fronts of the legs and feet, if necessary.
Before conducting any Reiki session, make sure that you know those preparations we talked about in the previous articles. Just believe that Reiki flows from you through your client ad your session will be successful.
Chanting And Toning With Karuna Reiki
The Karuna Reiki experience taught me that toning or chanting during a Karuna Reiki session causes profound shifts in the healing energy's vibrational frequency. The Mahayana Buddhist tradition of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvhara, who creates the Sound that Illuminates the World, validates this notion.
The Ethics Of Distant Reiki Healing
The Second Degree procedures teach you how to transmit powerful healing to anybody, anywhere, at any time, including the past and future. Using the Distant (Connection) Symbol helps you to construct a bridge between you and the person (or animal) you wish to heal.
Guided Meditation To Help Heal The Shadow Self Can Change Your Life
The shadow self refers to the aspects of ourselves that have been repressed into the unconscious — the aspects of ourselves that we are insecure about, ashamed of, or frustrated with. The shadow self-concept is based on the idea that we metaphorically bury those aspects of our personalities that we fear will not be accepted, accepted, or loved by others; thus, we keep them in the shadows.
How To Build A Successful Reiki Practice - FAQs

Integrative And Functional Medicine —Personalized Care For The 21st Century
The goal of integrative and functional medicine is to get to the root cause of health problems and treat the whole person with a combination of approaches—optimizing health for those who have it and restoring health for those who have lost it. Integrative medicine and functional medicine are often used interchangeably, but the terms are actually referring to two different approaches to patient care.
The Karuna Reiki Attunements
A common belief is that compassionate action is captured in this non-traditional form of Reiki. When used in conjunction with Usui Reiki, it has a powerful effect on its own, but even more so.
Karuna Master Symbols and Their Uses
Other healing systems incorporate the Karuna Reiki Master symbols. For instance, The International Center for Reiki Training incorporates the Usui Dai Ko Myo, Tibetan Dai Ko Mio, and Tibetan Fire Serpent into our Usui/Tibetan Reiki Master Training.
Kuan Yin - The Goddess Of Mercy
Kuan Yin is an example of an enlightened being. Bodhisattva, or enlightened being, guards the earth. The Chinese deity Kuan Yin is revered as a symbol of compassion and love.
Possible Side Effects Of A Karuna Reiki Attunement
Becoming a Reiki practitioner with the ability to heal oneself and others is a beautiful path that allows you to make a difference in the world. While it is exciting to receive an attunement in order to increase your frequency and connection to the universal life force energy, these attunements come at a cost.
The Traditional Karuna Reiki Attunements
Karuna is typically only taught to Usui Reiki Master practitioners. There are four levels of Karuna instruction. There are four levels of mastery in this system: two for practitioners and two for masters.
Original Karuna Attunements - The Sai Baba Reiki Attunements
For those wishing to view the original Sai Baba attunement process in order to compare it to later attunements, these are included for informational purposes only. You will notice a resemblance between these and the attunements developed later.
