The Karuna Reiki Attunements

A common belief is that "compassionate action" is captured in this non-traditional form of Reiki. When used in conjunction with Usui Reiki, it has a powerful effect on its own, but even more so. In terms of non-traditional Reiki forms, it is widely accepted as the most widely practiced and oldest of them all.

Additionally, Karuna Reiki involves sound: chanting and toning in particular.

Karuna Reiki Attunements

Karuna I Reiki Attunement

• Students should place their hands in the mudra (prayer position) with thumbs touching the solar plexus while sitting.
• Draw the Usui Power Symbol on all the walls, ceiling, and floor to seal a room. Ask the Ascended Masters and Reiki guides for their compassionate assistance in your prayer. Call on the guides you're most comfortable with. It's okay if you ask them to enter into and work through you if you're comfortable with that. Let it be known that this is a Karuna I Reiki Attunement being received in the prayer.
• Draw the Fire Serpent down the student's back. At the base of the spine, draw three Usui Power Symbols. Maintain base with the nondominant hand while retracing Serpent's head with the dominant hand.
• Through the crown, inhale the Tibetan Master Symbol and direct it toward the base of your skull.
• Draw Usui Master from above and point it at the base of the skull. The OM symbol can be used in the same way. Repeat with the next student or move on to the next step if there is only one.
• Open the students' hands in front of you. Starting with the Tibetan Master Symbol, draw the Fire Serpent and OM, then the four other symbols from level I, and finally the seven symbols from level II. Speak the name aloud three times while moving your dominant hand to the symbols you've drawn. Make three hard slaps on the hands.
• Hands are closed in receptive mudra for the students to practice. Students should then raise their hands so that the thumbs rest on the third eye. Using your non-dominant hand, draw each symbol over the fingers in the same order as above. Then, after you've drawn the symbols, tap three times on your fingers to release the energy you just summoned. Return their hands to a position where the thumbs rest on the heart.
• Draw the OM symbol and the four Karuna symbols above at the top of your head. If there is only one student, proceed to the next step.
• Breathe in a positive affirmation and exhale it out of your crown chakra into your heart chakra, focusing on Divine Love and compassionate action. For example, "You are an extremely powerful and successful Karuna Reiki Master filled with love and caring actions."
• You can seal the process by tying your thumbs to the base of your skull and chanting the Usui Power symbol. Repeat with the next student or move on to the next step if there is only one.
• Front: As a final blessing, release Hui Yin, tongue, and breath.
• To help students better understand Karuna and the new symbols, sit with their hands on their knees. It's also an option to take each student's hands and place them on their heart or legs if you prefer.

Karuna II Reiki Attunement

• Put hands in the mudra (prayer position) with thumbs touching solar plexus on the seated student.
• Draw the Usui Power Symbol on all the walls, ceiling, and floor to seal a room. Ask the Ascended Masters and Reiki guides for their compassionate assistance in your prayer. Call on the guides you're most comfortable with. It's okay if you ask them to enter into and work through you if you're comfortable with that. You should mention that this is a Karuna II Reiki Attunement in the prayer.
• Draw the Fire Serpent down the student's back. At the base of the spine, draw three Usui Power Symbols. Maintain base with non-dominant hand while retracing Serpent's head with the dominant hand.
• Through the crown, inhale the Tibetan Master Symbol and direct it toward the base of your skull.
• Draw Usui Master from above and point it at the base of the skull. The OM symbol can be used in the same way. Repeat with the next student or move on to the next step if there is only one.
• The student's hands should be open in front of you. The Tibetan Master Symbol, the Fire Serpent and OM, and the four Karuna symbols from level II should be drawn over the palms. After you've drawn each symbol, repeat the name three times out loud while moving your dominant hand to channel energy into the symbols. Make three hard slaps on the hands.
• Place hands back in receptive mudra for the student. Then raise the student's hands so that the thumbs touch the third eye, and then repeat the process. Using your non-dominant hand, draw each symbol over the fingers in the order outlined above. After you've drawn the symbol, tap three times with your fingers to release the energy you just summoned. Return their hands to a position where the thumbs rest on the heart.
• Draw the OM symbol and the four Karuna symbols above at the top of your head. If there is only one student, proceed to the next step.
