Do you truly desire to become a Reiki Master? Being a Reiki Master can be fascinating, gratifying, and typically a lot of fun, but it is not an easy path to take and, like any journey, requires preparation and a solid map. That is why I emphasized the word truly in the question above; this is not a decision to be made casually or on a whim; it most certainly merits considerable contemplation.
Being a Reiki Master is much more than acquiring another, more advanced certification. It is not even about the ability to instruct others. It is far more than either of those. Perhaps the question should read, "Are you truly willing to devote your life to Reiki?" because that is just what it entails. It is a lifetime commitment to mastering Reiki—a commitment to a healing practice and spiritual discipline that will undoubtedly change you and, most likely, your entire life. This is a once-in-a-lifetime decision, and once you have achieved the Master attunement, you cannot change your mind.
Being a Reiki Master may be a roller-coaster journey, and how you perceive it is highly subjective. You can view it as exciting, exhilarating, delightful, fun, demanding, and full of adventure, or as terrifying and burden with too many duties, with an overpowering desire to scream, "I want to get off!" but you cannot. As with riding a roller coaster, unless you go with the ride, bending and turning with it, it may be quite uncomfortable; if you struggle to keep upright, steadfastly clinging to what you have always known, you make the ride more difficult. However, surrender to the experience, move in lockstep with it, adapt to its speed and angles, and simply let it be, and you will flow with it. This is when it becomes enjoyable. That is when being a Reiki Master becomes enjoyable—when you allow yourself to flow. That is when you are acting as a Reiki Master rather than performing the role of a Reiki Master. Reiki Master is not a paid position. It is you, as you are. It is you who are the Reiki. It is you who is doing what you enjoy. And that is unique. Rise to the occasion, and it can be the most fulfilling existence you can imagine.
Therefore, if you truly enjoy your current life, refrain from becoming a Reiki Master—at least not yet—because change is unavoidable. Nothing remains constant indefinitely, regardless of how much we like or detest it. Therefore, go ahead if you adore Reiki and are intrigued, interested, and eager to discover a life filled with Reiki.
